Our FREE Community Event - The 19th Annual Buckeye Martinfest is June 25, 2023!
This FREE ADMISSION event is fun for all ages. Bring the family and tell your friends! There will be food trucks, vendors, crafts, activities and prizes for all ages.
Our birds are busy building nests and laying eggs in preparation for their big day. Come experience the nature of beautiful North Reservoir in the Portage Lakes. We’re BIG on wildlife!
The Buckeye Martinfest Celebration

This annual celebration of purple martins and their contributions to the Portage Lakes & environs will be held on a Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Always a huge success with young and old alike, it’s an exuberant learning experience. If you don’t want to participate, just watching other folks and the martins soaring about is a joy.
Many got to see the baby birds in their nests, and some got to hold them. Many will be able to feed the birds by flinging scrambled eggs. Some folks are eager to learn about various aspects of our natural environment from our naturalist. There will be several information tents including sources for informational materials. This unique festival is fun – a very enjoyable way to introduce environmental concerns to the public.
